In 2015, Kilmarnock YMCA was successful in accessing funding from the Renewable Energy Fund, The Big Lottery and The People's Postcode Lottery to develop a Community Garden at the rear of the building.  The work took one year and the Official Launch of the Community Garden took place in August 2016.

Now that spring is here, we are looking for members of the public and green fingered volunteers to com along and create a beautiful garden this year again.  This garden has been created for the community and we want people to get involved.  The double garage at the back of the building was converted into a workspace with lockers and dother amenities, allowing people to come in and spend some time working in the garden planting vegetables and flowers.  If gardening is not your thing, then just come along see what is going on, meet new people and make friends, relax in the sun (fingers crossed) have some tea or coffee…'s your garden, so just be there and enjoy.

We want to see groups from children's nurseries, primary and secondary schools and disability groups.  The planting beds are all raised to accommodate disabled users and there will be lights, fragrant flowers, wind chimes and water features.

Last year we were very lucky to receive support from East Ayrshire's Community Payback Project who helped by providing hanging baskets, the loan of a lovely water feature and volunteers to help with general gardening work.  East Ayrshire Council also donated plants and shrubs for planting.

It will only cost you some time and your willingness to enjoy!

Local community organisations and local business will be able to hire space for meetings at excellent rates.
